Reporting to the Management Accountant/Managing Director, the successful candidate will ensure that the company’s systems of accounting are compliant and in accordance with all government and corporate regulatory systems.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • ACCA/CAP certification or possess an MBA (with accounting specialization)
  • Five (5) years experience in senior accounting position to the level of Financial Controller/Management Accountant
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with ACCPAC/Sage Accounting software
  • Strong business acumen, with demonstrable analytical skills and implementation of sound financial controls
  • Proven track record of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with employees and external agencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Information Technology (PowerPoint, Microsoft Office Suiter, etc)
  • Time management
  • Data Entry management

 

Job Duties:
  • Prepares asset, liabilities and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing a balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
  • Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations

Description:

The Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) is a statutory body established under the JACRA Act 2017 is mandated to provide the regulatory framework for the growing, processing, grading and trading in Jamaica’s coffee, cocoa, coconut and spices industries. JACRA is inviting suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant position.

Job Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Accountant, the Cashier is responsible for the receipt of funds received on behalf of JACRA. The incumbent also prepares deposits to send to the bank and performs other related duties.

Key Outputs

  • Payment received by cash, cheque or credit cards.
  • Issuance of receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers.
  • Bank deposits prepared.
  • Records maintained.
  • Weekly, monthly and quarterly reports prepared.

Qualifications:

  1. Four (4) CXC/GCE O ‘Level including English Language, Mathematics, and Accounts.
  2. Certificate in General accounting Level 1.
  3. Six months experience.

Accounts Payable Officer – The Caves (Negril)

The Caves located in Negril, Westmoreland, a member of the Island Outpost Group, is seeking a suitably qualified individual to fill the position of:

Accounts Payable Officer
This individual will be responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services. This includes processing and monitoring payments and expenditures as well as preparing and monitoring the payroll.

Responsibilities include, but are limited to:

  • Receiving and verifying invoices and requisitions for goods and services;
  • Reviewing all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment;
  • Prepare batches of invoices for data entry
  • Prepare, print and obtain signatures on all accounts payable cheques
  • Record and distribute signed cheques as required
  • Maintain all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets, and accounts payable files
  • Verify that transactions comply with standard financial policies and procedures
  • Print and distribute monthly financial reports
  • Prepare and submit payroll information and/or documentation in order to ensure staff are paid in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial and employee files
Minimum Qualification:
  • Certified Accounting Technician level 3 or ACCA level 1
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in general accounting and accounts payables
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheets, and word processing programs
  • Stress and time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
