Director, Operations & Maintenance (SOG/ST 9) – Western Regional Health Authority

The Western Regional Health Authority (a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health) is currently seeking to employ a Director, Operations & Maintenance. Reporting to the Regional Director, the incumbent will be responsible for the establishment and implementation of departmental strategies and operational procedures with the use of emerging process design, technological advancement and quality control methods; all in accordance with the objectives of the Western Regional Health Authority.

Core Functions:

  • Ensures the effective and efficient implementation of workforce management, capacity planning, location & layout planning, materials inventory management, staffing and scheduling practices, consistent with the established goals,
    objectives and policies of the WRHA.
  • Provides strategic leadership to the management and maintenance the of Region’s facilities for the efficient delivery of health services.
  • Monitors construction activities to ensure compliance with construction schedules, blueprints, drawings and job specifications while ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.
  • Plans, executes, monitors and controls project scope, time, cost, quality, risk and resources for the duration of WRHA projects.
  • Provides a detailed and practical emergency plan to respond to various disasters including but not limited to earthquakes, storms, and mass casualties.
  • Interacts professionally with the public and vendors; maintaining effective working relationships, cooperating with the management team to effectively meet departmental objectives

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • BSc. Degree in Civil or Electro-mechanical Engineering or its equivalent from an accredited institution
  • A Masters degree in a related engineering discipline, management or business administration would be an asset
  • Minimum of five (5) years working experience as an Electro-mechanical Engineer, of which at least two years must be at the management level

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work and multi-task
  • Effective team building, interpersonal and change management skills
  • Proficiency with Project Management Software and tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science/Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution
  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of Jamaica

Responsibilities
