Senior Compliance Inspector (Cocoa, Coconut & Spices Division)

Job Purpose

Under the general direction of the Senior Director, Cocoa, Coconut & Spices Division, the incumbent exercises responsibility for the development, management, and coordination of the policies, programmes, and activities relating to of the Regulatory and Compliance functions. The post is expected to provide daily guidance, active support, and oversight to the Regulatory and Compliance team members. Expert advice is provided to internal and external stakeholders and reports and briefs are provided to the Senior Director and Director-General on implementation progress and feedback to inform strategic decision making, future development and implementation of Compliance and Regulatory functions of the JACRA.

  • Standards and guidelines formulated, monitoring and evaluation reports analyzed.
  • Reports, surveys, studies, project proposals and special programmes and initiatives prepared and submitted.
  • Compliance Reviews, risk assessments and inspections conducted and monitored and reports and findings finalized.
  • Compliance and regulatory work plans formulated, assessed and approved.
  • Operations manual finalized and submitted for approval
  • User specification documents developed.
  • Implementation plans and expenditure statements written and submitted for approval.
  • Briefs, reports and feasibility studies relating to project implementation formulated and submitted.
  • Procedures and guidelines for the various projects and programmes reviewed, strengthened and instituted for improved management and effectiveness.
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual reports prepared for the Senior Director.
  • Technical advice and guidance provided to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Competent, motivated and trained staff, informed and satisfied clients.
  • Timely reporting to stakeholders, agencies, and Committees
  • Accurate record keeping system instituted and maintained.
  • Steering Committees, working teams, consultations, negotiations, seminars and workshops, effective and successfully evaluated.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Management/Business Administration, Economics, Agriculture Engineering or related discipline and five (5) years related experience.

OR

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Management, Agriculture, Environmental Studies or a related field and seven (7) years related experience.

Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician – Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA)

JACRA is inviting suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant position.

Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Manager, Quality Assurance Standards and Certification, the Laboratory Technician (Quality Assurance) conduct quality assurance and related tests by measuring and assessing the product against the stated standards and procedures and perform other related duties.

Key Outputs

  • Assessment of agricultural commodities to ensure that they meet the standards for appearance, grading, sizing, and color.
  • Effective sampling of agricultural commodities prior to shipment.
  • Inspection certificates generated for commodities that meet quality standards.
  • Effective quality assurance and safety checks implemented, for example, Standard
  • Operating Procedures (SOB), Hazard Analysis and Contact Control Points (HACCP) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Work area sanitized, equipment sterilized, calibrated and in good order.
  • Accurate experiments or investigations.
  • Data summaries, reports and analyses prepared.
  • Data recorded and presented.
  • Calculations and reports accurately formulated.
  • Stock ordered, controlled and inventoried.
  • Compliance with all environmental health and safety programmes, policies, procedures and regulations to support a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Comparable qualifications in laboratory procedures from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Training in laboratory procedures and methodologies.
  • One (1) to Two (2) years related experience.
