Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL), operators of the Kingston Container Terminal, invites qualified, dynamic, energetic and results-oriented individuals to join our team in the following position:

Technical Training Officer

Job Purpose:

Provide training and development support through planning, designing and coordinating training activities.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct needs assessment and identifies skills and knowledge gaps
  • Assist the Training Manager to plan, design and develop training programs (outsourced or in-house)
  • Select and schedule persons for training and communicate the relevant training information on a timely basis
  • Use accepted education principles to design and prepare educational aids and materials; track new training methods and techniques
  • Assist in the design and implementation of appropriate evaluation tools
  • Summarize evaluation reports and determine the impact of training on employee performance
  • Manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment, curriculum database and training records
  • Provide classroom-led training support and on-site support for training exercises, tests, or evaluations
  • Develop a mechanism to monitor individuals’ post-training engagement
  • Source and engage internal/external personnel/ institutions for the implementation of training programmes
  • Make the necessary arrangements to facilitate staff attendance at local and overseas courses, seminars and conferences
  • Prepare weekly and monthly training reports

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Education or related discipline
  • 5 years’ related experience, 3 at the supervisory level
  • Extensive knowledge of Instructional Systems Design (ISD) theory and implementation
  • Adequate knowledge of learning management systems and web tools
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods and techniques
  • Good platform skills (e.g. Presentations, Teaching, and Demonstrations)
  • Ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent technical writing, documentation, reporting and communication skills
  • Excellent organizing and administrative skills
  • Problem-solving and analysis skills
  • Teamwork and people skills
